Formed in 1844, Maidstone Swimming Club is recognised as England's oldest competitive swimming organisation. Based in the heart of Kent at the County town's own leisure centre, not only do we boast an enviable record of swimming and diving achievements, but also an eye for future success.  We recognise our rich historical base - whilst aiming to nuture and develop tomorrow's swimming sensations.

 

We're fully affiliated to the ASA as well as holders of Swim 21 accreditation. We commit to providing a safe, effective quality service to every member, allowing them to reach their potential. Come join us today !


 


  • Alternative Swimming Caps

    We are thinking of getting hold of some different styles of swimming cap to allow Maidstone swimmers to wear a more high performance cap at galas whilst still displaying the club logo.

    We need to get an idea of how many people would be interested in which type of cap as we need to meet minimum order quantities.  We can put an order in as soon as we get enough interest for either or both types of cap.

    George Gomersall has samples of each type of cap so please ask to try them on before deciding.

2015 Club Champs - Accepted Entries

Entries have now been processed for the 2015 Club Championships and can be viewed here.

Please check your entries carefully and get back to me at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  soon as possible if you spot any issues as it is very difficult and disruptive to make corrections on the night.

Note that there was a minor mistake on the tick-list section of the entry form which stated that the 200m IM is on Thursday 17th September, whereas it is actually on Tuesday 22nd September.

 

Please also remember that in order to compete:

- Any outstanding fees must have been paid

- All Club Championship Trophies must have been returned to Michaela by 8th September.

- You need to arrive at the pool in good time to register before 7pm.

If you haven't been entered for an event but would like to swim to get a time then please let me know ASAP and at least one week before the event.  The current list of time-only entries can be viewed here.

Please remember that there is no training in the main pool or LTS boom pool during Club Champs events.  LTS training pool sessions and Diving are unaffected.

 
ASA South East Region Young Volunteers Programme 2015/16

ASA South East Region Young Volunteers Programme 2015/2016


Are you aged between 15 and 25 years and looking to access training opportunities to volunteer within aquatics?

Following the success of the 2014/2015 Young Volunteer Programme in the South East Region, the Region is again looking to increase the number of trained young people and to improve accessibility to formal and informal training opportunities.

 

Young people participating in the programme will be expected to attend two Development Days, the first of which will be held in 4 locations across the Region between September and November 2015. Following the first Development Day, the young people will be expected to undertake 10 hours volunteering within their own club environment before attending second Development Day in March 2016.

 

The cost for participating in the whole Young Volunteer Programme is £10, and all young people who complete the programme will receive a free polo shirt.

Training provided during the programme includes;

  • ASA Young Aquatic Helper Certificate
  • ASA Timekeepers Course
  • St. Johns Emergency First Aid
  • Sports Coach UK – Safeguarding for Young Volunteers (13+)
  • ASA Team Manager Training (Module 1)
  • Bespoke workshops on communication

Programme Dates;

19th September              Medway Park Leisure Centre, Gillingham, Kent

20th September              The Ark Centre, Basingstoke, Hampshire

4th October                      Dorothy Stringer School, Brighton, Sussex

15th November               Aylesbury Grammar School and Aquavale, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire

 

Development Days will run from 9.00am – 5.00pm

 

This is a great opportunity to learn new skills and have fun, enjoy yourself and to give you the confidence to stay involved in aquatics, with your club providing a mentor as a point of contact and to give guidance to its young volunteers.

Millennium Victory for Maidstone

2015-Millennium-2As a packed gallery cheered the swimmers Maidstone Swimming Club were crowned Champions of the 2015 Millennium League. The final round held at Maidstone leisure Centre, Mote Park saw Larkfield and Dartford finish tied for first place with Maidstone and Greenwich (who had lead for most of the night) a close third and fourth respectively. Having won 4 of the previous 5 rounds Maidstone secured the league win, retaining the title they won last year. 71 Maidstone swimmers competed across the six gala series. Emma Noble and Alex Share collected the trophy on behalf of the team (presented by Principle Referee Ann Memmott)

When: Sunday 29th November 2015, warm ups: 8:45am and 1.30pm

Entries are now being accepted for the Maidstone Level 3 Licensed Open Gala.  A full entry pack is available to download here which contains Promoter Conditions, Qualifying Times and Club / Individual Entry forms.

Clubs entries of 10 swimmers or more should be made using SportsSystems Entry Manager.  The electronic entry pack can be found here. Results are now in for the 50 Backstroke and 25 and 50m Butterfly time trials that took place on Friday, 10th July here.

Next week it's Freestyle and Breaststroke.

Also don't forget that next Friday is the deadline for handing in Maidstone Open and Club Champs forms.  Please make sure you bring both halves of the form with you so that we can check and initial the copy that you keep.
