Genny Improves Again at Paralympic Trials
Written by Claire Muller

Competing in her first British Para-Swimming International Meet, which was the only opportunity for elite swimmers to seek qualification for the Paralympic Games in Rio, Genny took significant chunks out of her PBs in both the 100m & 50m freestyle events and is now ranked just outside the top 50 UK swimmers. In the very fast Glasgow pool, a large number of world and British records were broken and it was a great experience for Genny to compete alongside Paralympians like Ellie Simmonds and Sacha Kindred. Hopefully this is just Genny's first appearance at this event and she's already building towards what would be her third appearance at the National Para-Swimming Championships later this year.

Well done to Callie-ann Warrington who swam in the 50m freestyle in a time of 27.71 LC.

Callie had an amazing experience warming up in the pool with Adam Peaty and other top elite GB swimmers.

She qualified to swim amongst the top 50 female sprinters including Fran Halsall. We are very proud of Callie who is the first Maidstone swimmer to qualify for the British championships.

An amazing achievement, which I hope is the first other major competitions which she and others will achieve over the next few months and years. Well done Callie.

Genny makes it back home to Paralympic Trials in Glasgow During a joint Southwest & Southeast region paraswimming event in Bristol, Genny qualified for both the 50m & 100m freestyle and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 100m breaststroke. The trials for the Paralympic swimming team to go to Rio this year are being held as part of the British Paraswimming International Meet in Glasgow from 23rd to 27th April. Genny lived in Glasgow for 3 years before returning to Maidstone in 2014, so she will have lots of family & friends supporting her.
