A group of our 11-12 year old swimmers; Shayla, Ruby, Frank, Liam and Josh are participating in a swim team relay to raise funds for BBC’s Children in need & Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital on Sunday 25th November. The children are all enthusiastic about turning their passion for swimming into something positive for children in less fortunate situations than themselves. Your support would mean the world to them, so if you could please donate a little, they would all be so appreciative! Below are the links to both justgiving pages for online donations. Alternatively, if you can spare a little change; you can always see the children’s parents poolside who have sponsor forms for the children. Thank you on behalf of “Team SwimKidz” https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hannah-sutton12 https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hannah-sutton13

Training Camp update-

On Wednesday between training sessions the team visited the waterpark, weather was great, 30 Maidstone swimmers bombarded the slides and jumped of the cliff top attempting back flips etc.

Today weather is terrible training in torrential rain and thunderstorms, after swimming to a spin class all were worked very hard. After lunch split into 3 teams of 10 for planning of final gala tomorrow, swimmers selected their fastest team for the competition.

Message from Claire Head Coach:
30 swimmers are with us on the camp, The training sessions are going well with all the kids training hard at each of the two hour sessions, four hours per day in total. The weather has been unbelievably hot (26 degrees) considering it is nearly the end of October.
We even managed a short trip to the beach where the kids were allowed to play in the sea and some decided to play volleyball.
It sounds like the weather may not be great tomorrow but getting hotter again from Wednesday.
Updates to follow.

There's a Judge level 1 course taking place at Mote Park - the first session is on 17th May (Thursday) from 7.00-9.00pm with two further session happening subsequently.

This is an ideal opportunity to get involved as a volunteer & help the club. The first session will cover the basics of timekeeping, and an overview of the role of a level 1 judge. Once you've attended the first session the aim would be for you to attend the forthcoming Time Trials in June, where you can practice, and hopefully be signed off as an official timekeeper. This will enable you to help out at all club galas, including the Club Championships in the Autumn. The other two sessions will focus more specifically on the rules of swimming, and your role in helping the Referree impliment the rules.

Details of the course, and how to book can be found here:

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

We can't run galas or time trials without volunteers, so please don't be shy!

Thanks

Colin Booth - Maidstone Officials
